MECHATRONICS AND MAKERS
Saturday, February 17th, 2018 // 10:00AM – 2:00PM
By combining principles from Mechanical and Electrical Engineering we can create machines that are limited only by our imagination. From production lines to outer space, robotic arms are everywhere.
Join us to learn how to build one, then bring it to life with microcontrollers, open-source code, and your ingenuity. Finish with some friendly competition!
Saturday, March 3rd, 2018 // 10:00AM – 2:00PM
Computer security is a topic that is only talked about when it’s often too late. Protecting our personal information has become more important than ever in order to deter and detect security threats.
Join us to learn how we use computer security to protect ourselves.
We will jump into activities that explore encryption, hacking, authentication, as well as other tools used today. We’ll build penetration testing tools using the terminal as well as python scripts. No programming experience required!
OPEN DESIGN WITH ARDUINO
Saturday, April 28th, 2018 // 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Ever wonder what your microwave, computer and car all have in common?
We’ll explore the answer to that while programming an Arduino Uno, a microcontroller used to control different hardware. Microcontrollers can be used to build a robotic arm using servo motors, build an automatic drawbridge, or even an automated plant watering device.
LASER CUTTING USING VECTOR DESIGN
Sunday, May 6th, 2018 // 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Whether you’re a future engineer or an aspiring artist, vector design and laser cutting will give you the skills to bring your ideas to life.
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to create vector design in Adobe Illustrator. We’ll also teach you to use a laser cutter to etch and cut a variety of materials. You will make a laser cut LED box to take away.
Saturday, May 26th, 2018 // 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Whether we’re snapchatting friends, taking trendy photos in Canadian wilderness, or looking for the next bus to get us downtown, mobile applications have become a dominant tool in our everyday lives.
Attend this workshop to learn how to develop mobile apps for an engaging user experience – make sure to bring your phone!
New to coding? Not a problem. We’ll get you started!
